Occasionally you may want to view the screen of your Recon or Ranger on your PC. Follow these instructions for a Recon or Ranger with Windows Mobile 5.0 if you're working on a PC that runs XP or Vista.
- Download Microsoft Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys (WindowsMobilePowerToys.msi)
- Connect the Recon or Ranger to your computer via ActiveSync.
- Double tap on WindowsMobilePowerToys.msi on the PC to install it.
- Allow the program to install itself.
- Once successfully installed on your PC, go to Start > Programs > Windows Mobile Developer Power Toys.
- Double click on the ActiveSync_Remote_Display folder.
- Double click on ASRDisp.exe to run it.
Troubleshooting
If you see "The OS or CPU of this device is unknown to this application" it's an error message. It usually means the CPU type of the current device, typically a Windows CE device, is not recognized by this tool. The workaround is:
- Find and copy the cerdisp2.exe file from the Windows Mobile Developer Power ToysActiveSync_Remote_DisplayDeviceswce400armv4 folder and paste it into the windows folder of your Recon or Ranger.
- Now you are ready to run ASRDisp.exe on your PC (found in the ActiveSync_Remote_Display folder).
- A screen should come up on your computer and after a few moments, you should see the screen of your Recon or Ranger being displayed on the computer.
Note: Window resizing does not work. The only way to change the display size is to use the Zoom menu.
