The Nomad had been shown at military tradeshows giving government and industry representatives the opportunity to discuss best practices and government implementations of commercial technologies.
At these shows, I have been busy demonstrating several capabilities of the Nomad, including many of the focus technologies:
- NetOps capabilities
- Secure solutions
- Portfolio management
- Wireless technology
- Collaboration/Web portals
- VOIP security solutions
- Battlefield Radio Frequency (RF) systems
- Network integration
- Radar systems
- Rugged computers
- Satellite systems
- Intelligence gathering systems
- Electronic warfare equipment
- Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
- Enterprise Data Center Solutions
The armed forces are quickly adopting more uses for technology, and that generated quite a bit of interest in the Nomad. Everyone seemed to have their own idea of what it can do to benefit the modern warrior. They were impressed with how rugged, powerful and feature-rich the Nomad is. Our goal is to give them the tools they need to do their job safer and better, and I think we're doing that.
What pleases me the most, however, is meeting the Soldiers and Marines who have been to Iraq and Afghanistan that came by my booth. They told me how satisfied they were with our rugged handhelds that they're using in the field. Several thousand Trimble Recons, for instance, are being used as a part in a classified system that is helping save Marine lives daily!
I'm proud to work with outstanding men and women like those I meet at the show. They serve our country well, and they are truly the best and the brightest our great country has to offer.
